Trying to separate the “teachings” of Christ from the divinity of Christ – is equivalent to separating the chutes from the backpack of your parachute! It might look appealing in the workshop of delusional self worship, but hurtling to the ground at 300 km an hour, your “parachute” of pick and choose Christianity will be nothing more than an empty backpack on a dead man’s body.
Peter Declares That Jesus Is the Messiah
When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah. (Matthew 16:13-20)
Your ability to use powerful imagery to express scripture is truly wonderful. You have a gift.
Amen. I was a dead man crash landing in sin and death – thank God for the truth that saves!
Amen! I see so much of this around my parts – people trying to rebrand Christ and his teachings. Nothing new, the apostles and Christ himself warned us of this many times. Great post!
Amen my sister! I want to hear this kind thing again and again. Truth is so sweet,
Excellent imagery! Great blog.
Amen!! I have known many who took the leap without their chutes. Needless to say, it was not good.
